Eleasis 24th
H 76/L 61 – winds out of the east at 10 mph, .50” of rain

Closest Patrol Today:
Captain Aito arrives in the evening from Silverymoon

Today starts off as a fairly ho-hum day, lots of stuff getting done around the valley. Johann Cross and his team are busy at work finishing up the first half of the residences. The plan is for many of the people of Temel to ‘double up’ in what residences are built now, so that Johann and his men can turn their attention to other things such as the temple, the learning center, the guard posts near the wall, and possible a tavern.

In the early evening you see Captain Aito and his men enter the valley and head for the keep. His patrol seems a little bigger this time.

“Friends,” he bellows “what say we plan our attack tonight and attack in the morning?”

Umberto looks at Althalus, who looks at Hasimir, who looks at Kregnok, who looks at Umberto. All shrugs.

“The ogres! We talked about it last week.”

Umberto pauses for a moment until he realizes Aito is talking to him. “Oh yes,” replies the monk, “we did indeed talk about it. What’s the latest intel?”

Aito nods, “Our last report, from the 21st, still had four restless ogres at the location east of Tem-, er Zeth’Gor. I have ten men, including a couple of archers to help take them down. Who do you propose you include in this attack?”

"I have several strong warriors to offer, Kelser, Otihand, and Marina. I would also propose that we send Gravaar the orc, he is a great warrior and deserves some esteem here in the keep. I know it seems odd to you to have orc and goblin-kind in our keep, but it is not so strange to me. I would be grateful this. I wish I had a healer to send with you, but only have that hobgoblin cleric," Umberto thinks for a moment, "I don't even know if she's here anymore. If any of my comrades would like to join you, I would not see the harm in that. Hasimir? Althalus would you like to join the ogre hunt, or perhaps Panian or Leera?"

If I am needed, then I will go, but otherwise we have scouting duties to attend to.

Captain Aito and his men with the addition of Kelser, Otihand, Marina, and Hasimir head out of the valley to go deal with the ogres.

It isn’t until early evening that you hear back from them.

Just as the sun ducks behind the walls of the valley you hear singing coming from the valley gate. Moments later you see a Captain Aito-lead entourage singing a triumphant war ballad as they approach. You make a quick head count and find that all have returned.

“Aye, it was glorious,” says an excited Captain Aito, “thanks to Hasimir we caught them completely off guard. They never knew what hit ‘em!”

“Hasimir had a great idea of separating them so Gravaar (did I mention he went as well?) captured a deer and released it near the ogres. Sure enough, two of them ran after it and fell right into our ambush. When the other two ogres heard the commotion, that allowed the rest of my men to get in to position and taken them out very quickly.” Captain Aito wipes his brow, “Outside of a couple of my men getting banged up, we left the ogre cave empty and ourselves unscathed.”

“I think this calls for a celebration!”

"Agreed! Let us have a gathering congratulating our brave and crafty warriors. Send word to our cook, let's celebrate! Have Leera and Haer-Dalis perform and drink enough for all."

The celebration kicks off and everyone is having a great time. The ale flows freely, and Ivan the cook provides plenty of food for all to eat.

As the party begins to wind down you see a bit of a commotion; a handful of Temelites surround the Mayor and they seem to be quite upset….

“Please! Our hosts here at Rock Hammer have their hands tied because of Silverymoon. Neither lawfully nor tactically can we barge into Temel and attack, I assure you!”

(under his breath), “They don’t seem to understand why we can attack the ogres but not the orcs. Could you explain to them?"

"I understand your frustration and confusion as to our recent endeavor against the ogres. These beast were posing a threat to the area. The difference between the ability to attack the ogres and not the orcs is complicated. Firstly the orcs are currently protected under a law sanctioned by Silverymoon that entitles them to the land through an established claim that it is a sacred land. We have exhausted our avenues to overturn this seemingly suspicious law, but to no avail. Whoever has woven this web will slip up, and then we can enforce justice. Secondly, to go against Silverymoon, even though they might be wrong in this case, would alienate us. In addition, the orc force is great and I fear an assault would prove fatal.

The monk pauses and looks at the angry Temelites, "But do not hate Silverymoon, there are those who are working against this injustice and they support us in supporting you. Tell your people to gather their head of household tomorrow morning and have them meet me inside the keep."

** I have been planning to give the households a stipend from the money from Silverymoon. I wanted to give 100gp per adult, 30gp per child and 90gp per elder. The rest of the money should be used to finish the housing and anything left over should go into our coffers for supplies and the whatnot. This is what the meeting will be about, if anyone else has any other suggestions, let me know.

Wow, President Bush would be quite pleased with your economic stimulus package. Are you sure you’re not a republican?

Great, great idea. Your approval rating will go through the roof!

I’ll end this thread for the 24th and get the 25th up and ready soon for you to make your State of the Union speech.
